Hampton Lumber has made a $45,000 donation to the Darrington Community Center to support critical upgrades and ensure the facility remains a safe and accessible hub for local residents.
Built in 1954, the Darrington Community Center serves as the heart of town activities, hosting everything from weddings and memorial services to Sunday gatherings and emergency shelter operations. Managed by an all-volunteer board, the Center relies on rental income, small donations, and fundraising events to cover operating costs.
“We’re happy to be able to support the Darrington Community Center and the volunteers who keep it running,” said Kristin Rasmussen, Hampton’s Director of Public Affairs and Communications. “This facility plays a vital role in the life of the town and in emergency preparedness for the Stillaguamish Valley.”
The funding will help the Center complete several high-priority upgrades, improving safety and reliability for the many residents who rely on the space for both everyday and emergency use.
Hampton has operated the sawmill in Darrington since 2002.
